About Kukummi

Your first achievement, first laugh, first real tears - What are the stories of your life, the stories that you have told and the stories you do not dare whisper out loud?
Stories are powerful. They move people. The story of a proud young woman inspires us to respect our own lives and bodies. The story of a mother who loses her child makes us hold our own children close. Each story shows a connection between the storyteller and us. It does not matter if there are oceans between us, or cultural gaps as wide as that ocean, stories inspire an understanding that goes far deeper than our physical differences.
We believe in the power of story telling to shift the hearts of people. If we know more about one another from our struggles with war and poverty to our triumpths with governance and community building, we build a global solidarity that will enable us to work together to create a world of peace and unity.
We tell the stories of real people. Our only hope is to provide a way for you to take a minute to delve into the lives of people not so different from yourself. If they inspire you by all means share them with your students, your classmates, your family, your friends, and even take action to help the lives of those you have read about. But for now, just take a minute to connect!
