Over vegan pizza, after a very long day, youth of many ages and backgrounds sat together to put their experiences and emotions on paper. Everyone who was there contributed to the poem and it was read - together - by many youth at the Sunday morning Plenary.
Become the Solution
Breath in to life
Static sun against one
Against one against one
And another ONE against one
Eternal, cosmic spark splits dark,
Becomes,
Heart drum speaks
Hope Hums.
We have begun.
Sparkles in eyes thousands of hands strengthen each other
Opening to the fire
Humility is the ember in my soul.
I could write a 1000 angry protest letters
But I dont ever want to forget how to write a love letter
Love is a movement inspired by the dreams of a united youth.
Move with harmony.
Dreams are butterflies
Iam a butterfly to new things

I got to know how others peoples life is like
Once in a while you should see life thru somebody elses eyes.
Diversity is the essence of truth.
Everyone has their own way of thinking and sharing ideas and thoughts.
Its not always about me
But us and we
Love is a movement

In a world full of shameless greed
A world of painful need
For things instead of people
Or seeing ourselves as pieces instead of the whole

Saving the world is a gradual process

Youth Program Description:
It is only through reconnecting with our own bodies, our immediate loved ones and more distant communities and with our environment, that change will happen on the revolutionary scale that it needs to. The Bioneers by the Bay Youth Initiative seeks to help youth reconnect by looking at health issues that are immediately relevant to our generation such as HIV/AIDS and the ways in which womens bodies have been coerced and controlled. The program further seeks to reunite youth with their environment through a three-hour hands-on outdoor workshop. Finally, this years Youth Initiative seeks to reconnect youth with one another through networking spaces, activities and workshops in addition to link youth with the wider community, by allowing for intergenerational dialogue and networking throughout the conference.
Alone, we are influential. Together, we can change our world. This years Bioneers By the Bay sustainability and social justice conference features a Youth Initiative that provides you with the space to network with other youth like you, to be inspired, to get the tools you need to succeed, and to connect with adults who can provide you with the resources and opportunities. The gathering will have a large Youth Initiative [ages 15 to 25+].
Organized by youth, for youth the Youth Initiative program will provide hands on workshops on the issues that affect us. The workshops are diverse in topics - everything from preventing and living with HIV/AIDS through music and art to a three-hour, outdoor program with some of the most inspiring natural leaders in this country. The Youth Initiative continues simultaneously with the main conference which features an amazing program and a live satellite downlink of the Bioneers Conference in San Rafael, CA. Come to network and learn from our diverse participants and facilitators. This is your opportunity to strengthen the work you are already doing or the perfect opportunity to start.
